The PowerHouse™ is a revolutionary US EPA SmartWay verified idle reduction technology that signiﬁcantly decreases the energy wasted through idling. It immediately delivers the beneﬁts of increased fuel savings, reduced noise and 90% emission reduction. It heats and circulates water or coolant through the locomotive engine block and cooling system to maintain a temperature of above 100°F, even in the coldest of temperatures. All models are available with remote monitoring capabilities.

PowerHouse™ Hybrid

The patented Hybrid model (U.S. Patent 11,352,940) operates even without access to shore power and trickle charges the locomotive batteries when plugged in. When unplugged, it operates off the locomotive batteries, creating greater versatility and reliability.

PowerHouse™ 120

The 120 unit is powered by a standard 120/240 VAC, 5/2.5 amp external power source. This unit is perfect for locomotives that have access to shore power. The 90,000 BTU/hr (26kW) diesel burner draws fuel directly from the locomotive fuel tank. The unit also comes with oil circulation and remote monitoring capabilities.

PowerHouse™ AC-APU

The AC-APU readies locomotives for immediate startup and deployment. With three modules -- the air compressor, generator module and heater module -- the AC-APU has all of the power of the PowerHouse™, with additional capabilities. The system charges locomotive batteries, charges the on-board air system and features a 22 horsepower, 3 cylinder Kubota® engine. With two operating modes, the AC-APU can function in "idle reduction" or "generator" mode. In generator mode, the APU can be used as an auxiliary generator. The system is compatible with AESS and comes with oil circulation and remote monitoring capabilities.

PowerHouse™ APU

With modular components that can be mounted up to 20 feet apart, the PowerHouse™ APU provides installation flexibility. Its 90,000 BTU/hr (26kW) diesel burner draws fuel directly from the locomotive fuel tank. The heater consumes, on average, 0.38 gallons of fuel per hour. The unit supplies power to electronic controls and a 35 amp locomotive battery trickle charger. The unit also comes with oil circulation and remote monitoring capabilities.
